ITAL 1002: Elementary Italian II

3 Credit Hours

Prerequisite: ITAL 1001 , or by placement, or the equivalent
Continued listening, speaking, reading and writing in Italian with further study of the culture of Italian-speaking regions.


Course Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to: 

  1. Analyze a variety of literary and cultural texts related to Italian culture in the target language.
  2. Identify and interpret significant aspects of Italian culture.
  3. Compare aspects of the Italian language and culture with their own language culture(s) and English/U.S. culture.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of intercultural issues by identifying, evaluating, and analyzing cultural differences and their underlying rationales.
  5. Discuss significant ethical issues within Italian society.
  6. Apply different cultural perspectives to current ethical issues.
  7. Evaluate and synthesize significant information about the Italian language and culture.
